Youth Shine in BLT Workshop Final Presentations

The BLT Youth Theatre Workshop concluded its 2023 program with a final presentation on February 1 by participants of the two separate age groups. It was a great evening as parents and family members of workshop participants watched two outstanding original productions by students in grades 3-5 and 6-8.

Myth Madness! was the title of the younger group’s production. The 13 students worked with their instructor, Deanna Sparrow, to re-tell an ancient tale in a brand-new way. The students created their costumes and secured props gathered from their homes. During the final performance, students presented several of their favorite myth stories.

Acting Up! was the theme for the older students’ production. The 11 students received instruction and experience in dramatic interpretation, script and scene analysis, character and motivation, blocking and movement, and voice and diction from their instructor, Ken Smith. They used their new skills to develop an original production for family and friends.

Students in both age groups met twice a week for four weeks. The youth workshops are part of the BLT mission to expand the community study of the dramatic arts and encourage residents to express their creativity and develop new skills through live stage productions.

Join us in congratulating these creative and talented young people.
