Love Letters follows the lifelong correspondence between Melissa Gardner and Andrew Makepeace Ladd III, who began as childhood friends and continued to exchange letters for over 50 years. Their letters, ranging from birthday notes to personal reflections, reveal a deep connection and the complexities of their relationship, including their marriages, careers, and eventual realization of their true feelings. The play highlights the power of written communication to express emotions and the enduring nature of their bond.

This play explores the eccentric behavior of a family obsessed with acting and theatricality. The story centers on Judith Bliss, an aging celebrity actress, and her novelist husband David, who are both deeply immersed in their theatrical world. Their children also feel the effects of constant theatricality, leading to a humorous exploration of the blurry line between reality and performance.

The play explores themes of disguised royalty and movie stars, evil villains, and the possibility of finding love in unusual places.
